On Thursday, former President Donald Trump revealed he is “100%” considering a 2024 Presidential run and would “certainly” consider Florida Gov. and fellow prospective 2024 candidate Ron DeSantis as his running mate during an exclusive interview on Fox News’ “Mornings with Maria.”
Trump gave high remarks to DeSantis, calling him “a friend of mine” and “a great guy.”
“I endorsed Ron and after I endorsed him he took off like a rocket ship,” Trump continued. “He’s done a great job as governor.”
As the morning after President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, Trump also blasted Biden for his speech and overall performance as President. Trump noted that Biden “didn’t discuss the border” when asked what “struck” him about Biden’s speech.
“It’s out of control,” Trump said, warning that if the situation continues “it will destroy our country.”
Trump explained, “tens of thousands of people are pouring into our country” at “a level that has never been seen before,” including criminals, yet the Biden administration “is doing absolutely nothing” to mitigate the flow.
He also suggested “they have to finish the wall” to solve the crisis at the border. He pointed out that the border wall “would have been completed if I didn’t get sued by Congress and the Democrats every single moment.”
“The border has to be brought back to where I had it,” Trump stressed. “We had it the best in the history of our country.”
Trump continued by lambasting Biden’s energy policy, warning “we’re not going to be energy independent in a couple of months.”
“Your gasoline prices, look what’s happening to them. They’re going up, through the roof in a short period of time,” Trump said. “I had them down below $2 and we still had a strong energy industry. Now they’re [the Biden administration is] laying everybody off.”
Biden recently unveiled a couple of massive bills aimed at infrastructure, with price tags soaring into the trillions.
Last month, Biden proposed his long-awaited infrastructure bill, the $2.25 trillion American Jobs Plan, that will be aimed at manufacturing, transportation, renewable energy and combating climate change.
This week, Biden finally announced the $1.8 trillion American Families Plan, focused on education and child care, and will include free universal preschool and free community college.
Both plans include hefty tax hikes on businesses and the wealthy to help fund the programs, which Trump believes “destroy the economy.”
“You’re going from the biggest decrease to the biggest increase in history,” he said. “It’s going to be a shock to all people, not rich people, all people.”
