Trump Speaks Of Forming Patriot Party

President Trump has reportedly discussed forming a new political party in coming days, hoping to continue his influence after leaving the White House.

According to the Wall Street Journal, it’s unclear how serious the outgoing president is about starting a new party. The outlet noted that Trump’s wide base of supporters was not heavily involved in the Republican Party before Trump became the party’s 2016 presidential nominee.

Speculation has grown as to whether Trump will run for the presidency again in 2024. If he did, it could effectively exclude other viable Republican candidates from pursuing the presidency. Traditionally, third parties have failed to gain enough momentum to challenge the Democratic and Republican parties.

The White House did not respond to the WSJ’s request for comment and the sources did not reveal how Trump would initiate forming a new “Patriot Party.”

President Donald Trump reportedly discussed the idea with several aides and others last week.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday took to the Senate floor to blame President Trump and others for inciting the violence that fueled the riot at the Capitol building on January 6.

Democratic lawmakers have called for Trump to be barred from running for federal office in the future, and on Tuesday Rep. Nikema Williams (D-Ga.) introduced legislation to ban Trump from entering the U.S. Capitol after his presidency ends on Wednesday.

On Tuesday Afternoon, President Trump delivered his farewell message from the White House and pledged that his Make America Great Again movement is “only beginning.”

President Donald Trump also warned that violence will “never be tolerated.”
